Paleontology Manager

Developed for the broad outreach requirement for a McArthur research grant, Paleontology Manager is a game where players must form a team, go on fossil-finding excursions, collect artifacts, add them to the fossil record, and learn how your discoveries affects our knowledge of history.

The game was made in partnership with Kenneth Angielczyk, a paleontologist whose discoveries have permanently changed the scientific community’s understanding of how mammals developed and existed.

Paleontology Manager follows an abstracted version of Ken’s story, explaining about how studying fossils affected our understanding of the Permian extinction event, and how that knowledge affects our modern world.

Responsible for design and development of the project, with scientific consultants and support from Field Museum staff and scientists.
